  1. You build equity. Equity in real estate is the difference between the market price of a property and the liability to the property, or what you owe on it. For example, if the market value of your home is $400,000 and you have $320,000 remaining on your mortgage, then your equity would be $80,000. As your home appreciates (raises) in value over time, your equity continues to increase. Why build equity? Equity is a valuable commodity -it increases your net worth and can be borrowed against in times of need. Interest payments on a home equity loan are tax deductible up to $100,000 and have much lower rates than those offered by credit cards (not to mention the fact that interest on credit cards cannot be deducted.)
  2. Tax incentives. Did you know the interest you pay on a home loan and your property taxes are tax deductible? First time buyers may qualify for the new Federal Housing Tax Credit of up to $7,500!
  3. Long term value. Don't take our word for it. Crunch the numbers on the Ginnie Mae rent vs. own calculator.
  4. Security. When you own your own home, you don't have to worry about eviction, raising rental fees, or the sale of the rental. As long as you make your mortgage payments and pay your taxes, you home is your haven. Safe, secure, and YOURS.
